We know how much abuse a clinical otoscope must endure. Durability was one of the key design criteria when developing this device.
Here are some of the durability features we incorporated:
- The Wispr has an internal skeleton suspension frame. The electronic circuit boards are mounted in this skeleton frame. This helps to isolate external shocks from the internal electronics.
- The optics module, the silver portion containing the camera, is electrically connected with pogo pins. This provides some “give” and also makes it field-replaceable.
- The LCD screen is protected by a rubber bezel.
- The operating software on the Wispr can be updated via the USB port.
- Various components that could be loosened with use are held fast with either locking washers or glue.
All of these items contribute to the durability of the device. But, just like your smartphone, if it is dropped often enough, there is a good chance that it will break.
If you have a defect in the Wispr, not due to accidental damage, we’ll make it right. If your Wispr becomes damaged due to accidental damage, we will exchange it for a factory refurbished, as-new, device for a modest flat fee.
